Presentation Skills course in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Here’s a situation where a group of participants were not in a receptive frame of mind at the beginning of a program. In fact, the group as a whole arrived with a thick wall of resistance. In this case, they had not been sufficiently informed about the details and purpose of the training. Secondly, they felt overwhelmed by work and didn’t feel that they had the time or needed this type of training.

It was evident within the first hour that the group was not onboard with the agenda, even after a few standard ice-breakers. We had to resort to other measures. After the first morning break, we sat down with the group. We spent a short time simply listening to what they had to say. After the opportunity to “air” frustrations, the resistance began to melt away and trust was starting to form between the participants and the lead facilitator.

From that point, they thoroughly enjoyed the remainder of the 2-day program and experienced great takeaways.

This scenario underscores the importance of tuning into the needs of participants and the state they arrive in for the training. This is part of the preparatory or set-up phase. People often arrive at a training with emotional baggage that will undoubtedly get in the way of the learning and easily becomes a negative influence on the group as a whole. Failing to remove learning barriers early on would certainly have derailed the success of this program.

Here is what one participant said about the presentation skills course in Santa Fe:

"I am a 27 year industry professional in the world of sales and sales management. I have sat through many sales/communication type training programs. In all honesty, none of them compares with what I took away from this course. I cannot recommend Donna and her training enough. Whether you are a sales professional or sales trainer or someone who needs to communicate to others, this is HIGH IMPACT stuff! You will take things away instantly that will make your daily work and communication much more effective."

We would be happy to offer our program in Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Santa Fe or other areas in New Mexico. For information about our services, contact us at 1-800-697-9910 or email info@wetrain.biz.
